When the “ancient yet new” Guochao brand Guaxin meets the “ancient yet new” historic city of Xi’an, a fascinating collision unfolds, ushering in an unexpected new trend in Guochao experiences.
On the afternoon of December 26, at 2:00 PM, the grand opening ceremony of the Guaxin China Chic Experience Store was held at Xi’an Yitian Holiday World. The event featured famous Shaanxi-born crosstalk comedian Miao Fu, who mentioned that Guaxin perpetuates the Miao embroidery craft. Over the past few years, he has worn Guaxin’s clothes on major stages, thereby promoting traditional culture. Thus, he accepted the invitation to support the inheritance and innovation of Miao embroidery.
Miao folk songs, which are also part of the intangible cultural heritage, are characterized by their clear, high-pitched, and melodious tunes. For the Miao people, singing is an integral part of life.
At the event, four intangible cultural heritage embroiderers dressed in traditional Miao costumes sang original ecological songs, earning enthusiastic applause from the audience. After their performance, Mr. Miao Fu presented the embroiderers with the “Most Beautiful Craftsman” award.
Bulaohu (Cloth Tiger) is a traditional craft widely popular among the folk since ancient times. The “world’s largest Cloth Tiger” was unveiled at the opening ceremony by Mr. Miao Fu and Guaxin founder A Xin. They measured it on-site and applied for a Guinness World Record.
In an interview with Global Times reporters, Mr. Miao Fu compared folk embroidery to crosstalk, emphasizing the need to “maintain the essence while innovating.” He mentioned the importance of experimenting boldly while retaining traditional elements like flowers, dragons, and eaves tiles.
Mr. Miao Fu highlighted that the promotion of intangible cultural heritage goes beyond just bearing the name of intangible cultural heritage. In today’s X era, cultural heritage requires grafting and synergizing various forces to achieve limitless integration.
He related this to the TV series “The Qin Empire” that he is currently watching, noting its historical accuracy and meticulous attention to detail in costumes and makeup. He believes that traditional crafts, when done with heart, will attract both young and old alike.
After the opening ceremony, at 3:00 PM, the Guaxin “Guochao Youth Cup” and Design Competition Finals kicked off splendidly at the central hall of Xi’an Yitian Holiday World. Nearly 200 families participated in the competition, with 50 families making it to the finals. The finals consisted of three segments: the Guaxin Fashion Show, Personal Talent Show, and Guochao Design Show.
After three rounds of competition, the top contestants were selected, and GAX founder A Xin awarded them certificates of achievement.
