In July 2020, the Guochao brand Gu A Xin presented its 2020 summer collection to fashion enthusiasts, trendsetters, and Guochao lovers. This unveiling followed its appearance at the 2019 Southwest International Children’s Fashion Week and marks the first domestic release of the Gu A Xin 2020 summer collection.
The Tale Behind the Design
A symbolic story inspires this collection: A fish living in the sea envies the freedom of the sky, while a bird in the sky longs for the embrace of the ocean. Each day, the fish leaps towards the sky and the bird dives towards the sea, but neither fully reaches their desired realm. One day, the bird flies over an unfamiliar sea, and as it dives, the fish leaps, and their eyes meet. The rebellious fish and the unique bird are deeply attracted to each other, opening new windows to their respective worlds.
Inspired by this story, Gu A Xin created the “Bird and Fish” T-shirt, the highlight of their 2020 men’s summer collection. This T-shirt uses premium 21s 180g pure cotton fabric, pre-washed and dried to prevent shrinkage and ensure breathability and sweat absorption. The neckline features imported elastic cotton ribbing to prevent deformation.
Design and Fabrication
The embroidered bird and fish on the T-shirt symbolize their connection, with the embroidery using the highest standard of silk threads. The fish features silver thread appliqué embroidery, maintaining a high-density, three-dimensional look while ensuring softness and comfort. The T-shirt’s raglan sleeve design offers great flexibility and effectively hides any arm flab, thanks to its shoulder embroidery technique.

“Flying Fairy” Embroidery
Echoing the celestial themes of Dunhuang’s Mogao Caves, the “Flying Fairy” embroidery combines appliqué with intricate embroidery to create vibrant and dynamic fairy figures while maintaining overall softness. From a distance, the embroidery appears as a fairy painting, while up close, it reveals detailed landscapes and structures, harmoniously blending the fairy with the scenery.
The “Flying Fairy” design is available in both men’s and women’s versions. The men’s version features a V-neck raglan T-shirt style, enhancing masculinity. The women’s version includes a stand-up collar with handmade pankou buttons, side slits, and a mid-length T-shirt dress style.
“Monkey King” T-shirt
Another standout piece is the “Monkey King” T-shirt. This design evokes childhood memories of watching “Journey to the West,” dreaming of being like the Monkey King, capable of anything. The new version of this T-shirt uses pure cotton for better breathability, sweat absorption, and comfort, replacing the previous brocade fabric.
